The state's peak social services body says yesterday's state budget failed to deliver for families doing it tough, especially those needing public housing.
The NSW Council of Social Service (NCOSS) has described it as a big-spending budget that's aimed at rebuilding the economy post-COVID-19.
But NCOSS head Joanna Quilty says the impact of the pandemic haven't been evenly felt, and those struggling to put a roof over their heads and in desperate need of social housing have been largely forgotten.

"So if you're one of the additional 28,000 people on JobSeeker compared to pre-COVID, then you're most likely struggling to find affordable housing, meet your day-to-day living expenses and quite frankly avoid homelessness," Ms Quilty said.

"In that situation, vouchers for swimming lessons, Friday lunches in the CBD or weekend getaways are not going to cut it."
